Starlight's Mission
BASIC MISSION: Starlight Theatre was founded with the intention of producing high quality live theater in the Waverly area. Our goal is to provide an outstanding evening of family theatre complete with a pleasant dining experience - to entertain our audience from the moment they walk through the door.
POSITIVE FOR THOSE INVOLVED: We cultivate creating a positive experience for everyone involved in a production by encouraging the staff, cast and crew to work as a team with high respect for each individual and their unique talents. We aim to create an unforgettable experience and memory for everyone involved, and specifically by uniting family members together in a production.
DIVERSITY AND NEWCOMERS: We strive to use a diverse group of actors, directors and technicians and welcome newcomers who share our same goals.
|
PARTNERING: We partner with Waverly Schools and other local business on projects that will benefit all individuals and organizations involved.
SUPPORT TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS: Starlight Theatre is supportive of other non-profit and charity organizations and supports their events and fund raising efforts through donations of complimentary passes, theatrical items and services.
|
Examples of How We Are Meeting Our Mission:
Diversity and Newcomers: Starlight has had 175 different individuals perform on our stage. Every one of our 31 plays, except for one, has had at least one person in the
cast who was new to Starlight Theatre.
Partnering: Through monetary donations totaling over $1,000 and volunteers donating over 300 hours of their time, Starlight has partnered with Waverly Community Schools to upgrade the sound and lighting systems in the Cafetorium at Waverly East. These upgrades are permanent improvements to the school and can be used by the school for their theatrical and musical productions. Waverly East also provides storage space for Starlight Theatre to store their dining room decor. We are currently seeking grant money to purchase badly needed new stage curtains for the stage at Waverly East Intermediate.
Starlight Theatre has partnered with Rising Star Studio of Dance Arts located in Waverly, Grand Ledge and DeWitt, using the studios for rehearsals, auditions and storage. Both groups work together sharing theatrical set pieces and props. Many dance students have assisted Starlight in the dining room.

Support to Other Organizations: Starlight Theatre has loaned various set pieces, props and costumes to Waverly Schools, Riverwalk Theatre, Over the Ledge Theatre, Portland Civic Players, Rising Star Studio of Dance Arts and Emanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Ledge for their play productions. We also partner with many local theaters on program ad exchanges.
